Privacy policy
This policy explains how Inceptial Design Pty Ltd, ABN 35 625 367 740, trading as Luxhandles ("we", "us", "our"), collects, holds, uses and discloses personal information, and how you can contact us about it.
What we collect, and where it comes from
We collect information directly from you when you browse and use our website, contact us by phone, email, live chat or in person, place an order, register an account, make a request or leave a review, or interact with us through competitions, events or social media.
Depending on how you deal with us, this includes your name, your contact details, your billing and delivery addresses, your order and transaction history, your correspondence with our customer service team, any reviews you submit, and your marketing preferences.
We also receive information from our payment and delivery providers where it is needed to process and fulfil your order. If you interact with our social media accounts, we may receive information associated with that interaction.
We collect information about shopping activity as well — products you view, items you add to a cart, and how you use the site. This can be personal information where it relates to an identified or reasonably identifiable person.
How we use and share your information
We use your personal information to:
- supply the products you have ordered, and provide the services you have asked for
- answer your questions and help you choose the right hardware
- create transaction records, tax invoices, delivery confirmations and order correspondence
- send you marketing emails and SMS where you have agreed to receive them
- prevent fraud and manage risk to our business
- plan our purchasing, stock and fulfilment
- meet our legal obligations, and respond to lawful requests from regulators or authorities
We share personal information with the service providers who help us run the business: our e-commerce platform, our payment providers, our delivery carriers, and our email and review platforms. Where necessary to fulfil an order or resolve a problem with a product, we may share relevant details with the supplier of that product.
We share customer information with Google, Meta and Microsoft for advertising matching, targeting and measurement, as described below.
Advertising and analytics
We use the following services to understand how our website is used and to measure and target our own advertising:
- Google Analytics and Google Ads (Google)
- Meta Pixel (Facebook and Instagram)
- Microsoft Advertising
- Shopify's own analytics
We disclose website activity and customer information to Google, Meta and Microsoft so they can match that activity to their own users, target advertising and measure advertising results. Depending on the service and the interaction, this includes products viewed, cart and purchase events, and customer names, email addresses and phone numbers. These providers may match that information with information they already hold about you.
The providers' privacy policies explain how they handle this information. Our disclosure of information to them is also subject to our own privacy obligations.
You can ask us to stop using or disclosing your personal information for targeted advertising by emailing info@luxhandles.com.au. We will give effect to your request within a reasonable period and at no charge. You may still see general advertising that is not targeted using your personal information.
You can also limit interest-based advertising through your Google, Meta and Microsoft account settings, and through your browser and device settings.
Product reviews
We use Judge.me to collect, manage and display product reviews. A review you submit, including the display name and content you choose to publish, may be publicly visible on our website.
Cookies
Our website uses cookies — small files stored by your browser — to keep your shopping cart working, remember your preferences, and support the analytics and advertising services listed above. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, but parts of the site may not work properly if you do.
How we hold and protect your information
We hold personal information electronically in our Shopify store and in the business systems we use for customer communications, order management and record keeping.
We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. Connections between your browser and our store and checkout use HTTPS encryption.
Card payments are processed by our payment providers. We do not retain full card numbers or card security codes in our own records. Please do not send card details to us by email.
Overseas service providers
Our store runs on Shopify, which processes personal information through overseas group companies and service providers. Shopify identifies relevant recipients in countries including Canada, the United States, Singapore and Ireland. Google, Meta and Microsoft, which provide our analytics and advertising services, are located in the United States. Where we disclose information to an overseas recipient, we take reasonable steps to ensure it is handled consistently with Australian privacy law.
How long we keep your information
We keep personal information only for as long as we reasonably need it for the purposes described in this policy, or for as long as the law requires.
Australian tax law requires us to keep most business records for at least five years. As a proprietary company, we must retain our financial records for at least seven years after the transactions those records cover are completed, under the Corporations Act 2001. This does not mean we keep all browsing, marketing or support information for seven years.
When personal information is no longer needed for a lawful purpose and we are not required to keep it, we take reasonable steps to securely destroy it or permanently de-identify it.
Marketing, and how to opt out
You can stop marketing emails or SMS at any time using the unsubscribe link in the message, or by emailing info@luxhandles.com.au. We will action your request within five working days.
We may keep the minimum information needed to honour your preference and show that we have. Opting out of marketing does not delete the records we need for your orders, for customer service or to meet our legal obligations, and it does not stop necessary messages about a purchase you have made.
Accessing and correcting your information
You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct anything that is wrong or out of date. Email info@luxhandles.com.au. We may need to verify your identity first.
We will respond within a reasonable period, generally within 30 calendar days. If we need longer, we will explain why and tell you when to expect our response. There is no charge to make a request or to have information corrected.
If we refuse access or a correction, we will give you our reasons in writing, except where the law allows us not to, and explain how to complain. If we refuse a correction, you can ask us to attach a statement setting out why you believe the information is wrong.
Complaints
If you believe we have mishandled your personal information, email info@luxhandles.com.au with the details. We aim to acknowledge complaints within five business days, and to give you a written outcome within 30 calendar days. If we need longer, we will explain the delay and tell you when to expect our response.
If you are not satisfied with our response, or we have not responded within 30 days, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner for information about the complaint options available to you. Whether the OAIC can investigate a particular complaint depends on its jurisdiction.
