Choosing cabinet handles

Choose handles that suit the cabinetry, check the hole spacing, then pair them with matching knobs.

Choose by style

For texture, Knurled has a diamond knurl you can see and feel, and Stria has fine lines along the bar. For a clean, simple bar, look at Simply and Belgravia, or Nordic, which adds ribbed ends. For a classic look, Stratford, Regal, Century and Bentleigh have traditional profiles. Brio is tapered, and Geo has a hexagonal bar.

Will it fit? Size and hole spacing

Handles are named by overall length, but what has to line up with your cabinet is the hole spacing, measured centre to centre. Each size on the product page lists both. For help choosing a length for each drawer, see our drawer handle size guide.

Pair with knobs

Many of our handles have a matching knob of the same name — Belgravia, Bentleigh, Century, Curve D, Glossy Grace, Knurled, Linear, Nordic, Simply and Stria — so the room matches by design. Many ranges also come as a T-knob, a short version of the handle that fixes through one hole.

Where to fit them

Fit the handle centred on the drawer front, or on the top rail of a Shaker drawer. On a cupboard door, run it vertically on the edge opposite the hinge, and choose a longer handle for a taller door.

Frequently asked questions

What size handle should I choose?

It depends on the width of the drawer or the height of the door. Our most popular hole spacings are 128mm and 160mm. Our drawer handle size guide shows which length suits each drawer width.

Should I use handles or knobs?

Handles are best on drawers, which take more force to open, especially heavy kitchen drawers full of pots and pans. Knobs are for light duty, so they’re best on cupboard doors. Most kitchens put handles on the drawers and knobs on the overhead cupboards and under the sink, for a balanced look.

What finishes are available?

Most handles come in Brushed Brass and Antique Brass, and many also in Brushed Nickel, Gunmetal and Polished Chrome. A few come in Champagne Gold, Brushed Copper or Black. Finishes vary by handle, so check the product page, and choose the same finish as your knobs for a matching look.

Do you have long handles for pantry and tall doors?

Yes. Knurled, Belgravia and Stria come in 500mm, and most other ranges go up to between 330 and 410mm. Finishes can vary by length, so check the product page.

Do they come with fixing screws?

Yes. Most of our handles use M4 screws and come with 25mm screws, which suit door and drawer fronts around 18mm thick. For thicker fronts, such as some Shaker doors, email info@luxhandles.com.au after purchase and we’ll send 40mm screws. Screws for Signature, Elegant D, Contemporary and Hampton can differ, so email us to check before you order.
